Dear LCS Community,

This Thursday, May 7, is the National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman, later updated by President Reagan and President Clinton. Prayer is central to our LCS mission, and I invite you to set aside a dedicated time specifically this Thursday to pray for our country.

This year's theme is "GLORIFY GOD AMONG THE NATIONS - SEEKING HIM IN ALL GENERATIONS." The theme verse is 1 Chronicles 16:24 NASB: "Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all peoples."

This theme is inspired by a passionate prayer of Thanksgiving prayed by King David after bringing the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem after a separation of seventy years when the Ark was stolen from the Tabernacle in Shiloh. While God was always watching over Israel and just a prayer away from them and King David, the Ark of the Covenant represented the presence of God, having been constructed at the command of God and carried by the Levites with Moses as they wandered and waited to enter the Promised Land.

Again, please plan this into your day. Please give some time to lift up our school, community, state, country and world before the Lord.

Thank you for your prayers for God's continued protection and provision for LCS as we wrap up another year.

In His Service
